MAGIC CAMP (for kids 8-12 years old) builds SELF CONFIDENCE, CHARACTER, , and face-to-face COMMUNICATION SKILLS in kids by teaching them the art of magic!
DISCOVER MAGIC + MAGIC CAMP = TOTAL KID AWESOMENESS!
Discover Magic (the curriculum we exclusively use for MAGIC CAMP) is an award winning, established (six years running) and (nationally recognized) curriculum created by educators for educators.
The SEL (social emotional learning) is built right into the program!
MAGIC CAMP is terrific at building character, confidence and communication skills in kids through magic tricks and fun!
The world needs kids with self confidence, strong character, and the ability to communicate well.
The world also needs more magic!
That’s EXACTLY what Alabama Academy of Magic and Discover Magic are here for.
It’s what we do!
We provide the videos, the premium quality magic tricks, the lesson plans, the classroom displays, the VIP passes, the magic bags (which look amazing by the way), the magic certificates, the magic wands, and the amazing hands-on teaching of your students!
We’d like to be your partner in growing your AMAZING KIDS into even more AMAZING ADULTS!
WHAT’S THE AGE RANGE FOR – MAGIC CAMP?
8-12 year olds. That’s basically third, fourth, fifth, and sixth graders. We’re working on a program for the younger K-2 kids, but we’re not there yet.
HOW MANY DAYS IS MAGIC CAMP?
There are THREE CHOICES…
CHOICE #1 = 2 FULL DAY – MAGIC CAMPS = 3 hour morning session and 3 hour afternoon session 2 days in a row
CHOICE #2 = 3 HALF DAY – MAGIC CAMPS – three consecutive days in a row (morning or afternoon sessions – your choice) 3 hour sessions
Our team of magic instructors are very flexible. We’ll make it work.
HOW MANY KIDS CAN TAKE PART?
Up to 75 kids can take part in MAGIC CAMP at one time. We bring a LOT of magic, fun, and games. It’s an epic experience! Even your teachers get to be involved in the fun (they get an I TEACH MAGIC t-shirt – at the end of Magic Camp).
HOW LONG IS EACH MAGIC CAMP HALF-DAY?
Each day of Magic Camp is 3 hours long (a ton of magic, fun, games is jammed into this 3 hours).
HOW CAN – SEL – BE “BUILT-IN” TO LEARNING MAGIC TRICKS?
This is the most exciting part of MAGIC CAMP.
MASTERY KNOWLEDGE COMMUNICATION EMPATHY FUN
All of this is literally baked-in to learning and performing magic.
First, the kids begin to develop self-confidence through mastery of the magic tricks we provide. Our instructors know how to give support, guidance, and steer the kids to learning and performing the tricks well.
Our magic tricks are also specifically designed for kids (8-12 years old).
This is powerful stuff. They learn and can perform this magic quickly. Did you get that? They learn these magic tricks quickly. That’s a real boost to self confidence right there, but it even goes further!
They can NOW perform these tricks for family, and friends. They will get amazingly positive feedback from grandma, mom, dad, their best friend. Everyone needs approval and positive feedback. Our magic does this!
Knowing the “secret” is also a brilliant incentive to get kids excited to know more. These kids now know how to do something that OTHERS don’t know how to do (even grown-ups). Imagine the self-confidence that this delivers.
I can tell you – first hand – it can mean the world to a kid!
Second, learning and performing magic tricks can also drive dramatic communication skills improvement. There’s literally no way to do a magic trick alone. Magic MUST BE SHARED with someone else. Imagine asking someone to “pick a card” but there’s no one there to ask. See… it’s built in.
You must perform magic for & with others.
Magic is shockingly good at driving kids to be better communicators, to be more empathetic. To perform a magic trick well requires that you read other peoples emotions as you communicate with them.
Anytime you ask someone to “pick a card”, you are communicating directly with them. Even for something this simple you must communicate effectively, you must communicate well. You must speak up. You must look the person in the eyes. You must make sure they are paying attention. All this HAS TO HAPPEN to perform magic.
You have to read their facial signals, their body-language, their eyes, their expressions to make the most of the magic trick.
Magic tricks force you to communicate, but the great thing is… it’s a TON OF FUN to be doing magic!
Within the structure of MAGIC CAMP, there are so lots of elements that are ALSO designed specifically for emotional kid growth and development.
We have interactive (creativity) WONDER-DOODLE sessions (kids guess what a funny picture is – there are no wrong answers), or kids introduce themselves to the group (self-confidence building) and then they take a bow as everyone claps for them, VIP VIDEOS (character) learning sessions (examples of good character), GAMES that promote teamwork, (these games are lots of fun too), speed practice (communication skills) sessions where the kids are working one-on-one with OTHER kids.
Our curriculum is designed to be fast, fun, and filled with ways to help your kids discover connections to each other AND to the magic tricks they are learning.
HOW DO MAGIC TRICKS BRING “SCREEN-KIDS” INTO THE “NON-SCREEN WORLD”?
Our AAM – Discover Magic curriculum leverages the power and excitement of learning magic secrets to get kids to put down their electronic devices and learn important social skills like using people’s names and looking others in the eyes.
Embedded in these fun and interactive classes are simple and powerful life-changing lessons.
We teach the importance of being prepared, being humble, and being your best self all in the context of what makes a good magician.
MAGIC CAMP was designed by educators to make sure the kids are learning, growing, AND having fun – all at the same time!
MAGIC CAMP is flexible. We offer two “full-day” MAGIC CAMPS and we offer three “half-day” MAGIC CAMPS.
Groups of kids (up to forty – 8-12 – year old kids)
WELCOME WARM-UP
Wonder Doodle: We show a fun picture and students try to guess what it is. This gets their creative juices flowing. There are NO wrong answers!
Review Time: We go over class rules (RULE 1: Have Fun. RULE 2: Treat others the way you’d like to be treated. RULE 3: Never reveal a magic secret) and students report back on magic progress from yesterday
Roll Call: Each student gets up in front of class and does something simple and fun. The entire group claps out loud for them, as they take a bow!
TRICK TIME
Perform: We perform one of the amazing magic tricks students will receive
Key Trait: We show a short VIP Video (with positive character traits such as – be respectful, be prepared, be enthusiastic, be confident, be humble, be creative, be authentic, be giving) and we discuss examples of this trait together.
Teach: We now hand out the high quality magic tricks (kids get to keep these) and explain how the trick works. Kids don’t touch yet… we’re still explaining!
POWER PRACTICE
Personal Practice: We go through the instructions together with the kids.
Partner Practice: Students sit in assigned spots and practice with each other
Spotlight: One student performs for the entire group
MAGIC MISSION
Bonus: We share magic from the File Folder and show the kids where the SECRET WORD is to unlock more videos online (on the secure Discover Magic Video Vault) site.
Magic Mission: We give the students a fun magic challenge to do at home. It’s usually something like… “perform todays magic trick for a family member or friend. Do this at least twice.” Or “come up with a magic name you’d like to use”.
Hand Out Folders: We recite the 8 Traits of a True Magician (respectful prepared, enthusiastic, confident, humble, creative, authentic, giving) together and give each student a File Folder to take home in their magic bag
ARE THE TRICKS THE KIDS GET TO TAKE HOME JUST CHEAP PLASTIC GARBAGE?
No way! Every person that gets to hold these magic tricks (with instructions, file folders, and videos) cannot believe how well done they are. They are truly remarkable, and kids will be proud to own them and show them off.
Alabama Academy of Magic kits – MAGIC CAMP KITS – are PREMIUM QUALITY. They are ALSO made in America!
I’ve been a globe-trotting professional magician (Japan, Australia, Canada, Portugal, Spain, UAE, and the US) for over 38 years and I believe they are the BEST KIT I’ve ever seen. There’s absolutely no “plastic garbage” here! Secondly, these lessons aren’t just “tricks”, they are specifically designed to teach character, connection, and self confidence.
WHAT TYPE OF SPACE OR FACILITY DO WE NEED TO PROVIDE TO MAKE MAGIC CAMP HAPPEN?
The kids will need room to spread out. In some cases, they will be at table or even on the floor is fine. But we do need space to move around. We’ll learn magic and then we’ll be playing some physical movement games, so the kids can blow off some steam. A cafeteria, gymnasium, or really large room will work just great!
WHAT AGES CAN PARTICIPATE IN MAGIC CAMP?
We’ve tried older kids and we’ve tried younger kids, but our BEST and MOST EFFECTIVE age range are kids 8 to 12 years old.
HOW MUCH LEAD-TIME TO WE NEED TO BOOK MAGIC CAMP?
We MUST HAVE two months notice to get MAGIC CAMP on “the books” for you. Partially this is because we must order lots and lots of magic tricks for you and we never want to risk those magical items NOT coming in and being ready for the kids to take home.
SOUNDS GREAT… HOW CAN I BRING – MAGIC CAMP – TO MY SCHOOL?
Steve Trash has personally trained each MAGIC INSTRUCTOR that comes to your school. We bring 2-4 instructors per (20-60 kid) group to bring the magic, games, and fun, to your kids!
Monday through Thursday (Magic Week is four days) or Tuesday to Friday (Magic Week is four days) our certified instructors (trained personally by Steve Trash) come to your school and teaches your kids how to read people’s minds, make money appear out of nowhere, travel through time magically, and more (games, surprises, magic performances, laughter – lots of laughter). In this course students will not only learn the 8 basic effects that make up all magic tricks, but more importantly they will discover the “real secrets” to becoming a true magician as lessons reveal important life skills to help build their confidence, communication skills, and character. Each day’s magic lesson is a flexible 1 – 3 hours long.
MONEY… $$$… HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
I’m gonna be honest, nothing about this course/curriculum/program is inexpensive or cheap. It costs real $$$.
The magic kits have a retail value of $80 each (that’s right… each of your kids will take home a magic kit valued at $80).
Did you get that?
Yes… each bag of tricks, set of videos, custom magic KEY CARD, magic certificate, magic wand, is $80 per kid. And this doesn’t even include the videos or the live instruction, or the fun they’re going to have!
Our goal is to make a REAL impact on this generation of kids, so I’ve made the choice to only use THE BEST materials.
I’ve spent my whole career (almost 40 years now) combating the forces that would deliver mediocre or low quality. We simply won’t play that game.
We are here to deliver quality for your kids.
